FOCUS Classes descriptions
*Star Players
Musical Theatre students expand their previously acquired knowledge of theatre skills and concepts through imagination, creative dramatics, movement, music, monologues and short scenes, and research with a focus on improving individual performance and acting choices. The use of improvisation is accelerated, shaping and molding their ability to think quickly and fostering a higher sense of autonomy. As students play, move, and create together, they continue to develop important skills such as teamwork, acceptance, respect, critical thinking, and responsibility that will help students be successful in the 21st century.
*Star Singer

Students will learn correct singing techniques, breath control, sight-singing, and compose their own music. Students will learn and perform a repertoire that includes recently released music, spirituals, patriotic songs, canons, folk songs, and chorals. Students will have the opportunity to sing in new languages and experience the beginning stages of show choir by incorporating choreography into their choral music.
*Star Strings
Welcome to a one-of-a-kind orchestra class that goes beyond the usual! In this class, we play violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, and percussion — and we don’t stop there. We also dive into fascinating string instruments worldwide, like the sitar from India, the komache from Iran, and other rare zithers.
Alongside playing, we train our ears through singing and listening exercises, helping you become a sharper, more versatile musician. Whether you’re a beginner or already have experience, you’ll grow your technique, explore global sounds, and have a blast making music together. Come ready to bow, pluck, strum, and groove — this is an orchestra with a passport
*If signing up for a performance group as one of your top three choices (Strings, Musical Theatre, Singers),you acknowledge that your child will be required to participate in performances throughout the year outside of school hours, both on and off-campus, and these performances will count towards their grade.
